The staff and residents of Highbury New Park care home celebrated Christmas in style, by hosting their very own Christmas fayre on the 7th December. Taking place at lunch time, the Mayor and Mayoress of Islington were invited to open the fayre, after which they stayed to chat with residents. Family and friends and members of the local community were also invited to join the residents. Staff wore Christmas hats and Christmas songs played in the background, giving a festive feel to the occasion. Tea and cakes were also provided by the home for everyone to enjoy. A selection of stalls were put on by the home, including a tombola and Christmas raffle.
Carol Coldwell, Administrator who helped organise the event said:
“This was a successful event, with the local community, friends and family all visiting the home. It was a very jolly occasion with Christmas songs playing and everyone one had a good time. We will be hosting a summer fair later this year which everyone is looking forward to”.
The next project at the home will be to create an old fashioned tea room for the residents, which will aim to provide a sense of nostalgia.
