Care UK’s Forrester Court care home in Paddington has been given the seal of approval by a national care watchdog, with inspectors highlighting the home’s high standards of dignity and care in their report.
At an unannounced visit by the Care Quality Commission, inspectors found that the home in Cirencester Street meets, for the eighth year in a row, the Government’s five standards of quality and safety which are:
During their visit to the bed home, which provides specialist care for older people, some of whom have dementia, the inspectors talked informally to the team, residents and their relatives and examined the home’s administrative systems and processes.
Home Manager Beata Brzozowska said: “I am delighted that we reached the high standard set out by the Government and CQC and I was even more delighted that the inspectors highlighted how the team works to respect people's privacy, dignity and independence.”
The inspectors also noted that residents’ views and experiences were taken into account in the way care was planned, provided and delivered and residents and their families were given input into the running of the home, with meetings well-advertised, and there was plenty of information available about the running of the home.
Inspectors also found that people were supported to promote their independence and encouraged to stay active, with daily activities and events happening at the coffee shop and hairdressers, both places in the home which people visited and enjoyed. They also noted that activity co-ordinators had told them that: "We make sure that we get to spend some time with the people who can't join in the groups. Sometimes they just need someone to spend a bit of time with them, it reassures them".
Beata said: “Everyone at Forrester Court strives to ensure that we create genuinely individual care for each resident. To do that, we ensure we get to know each person, their history and their interests, so that we can tailor each care plan to maintain their independence, life skills and sense of wellbeing.”
