Festive fun for residents at new Framlingham care home

Home news

Residents at the new Mills Meadow care home on Fore Street in Framlingham are set for a first merry Christmas in their new surroundings.

Mills Meadow has been undergoing a two-stage redevelopment since November 2013 and residents have been living on site throughout. The first new residents were delighted to move across to the new home once the first stage was complete in October 2014.

Georgina Penny, business support at Mills Meadow, has been on site throughout the redevelopment. Georgina said: “Everyone is delighted with the new home! The residents and I have been watching it grow since construction began last year and it’s great to finally be here, enjoying the lovely spacious rooms and the modern facilities.

The residents have all settled in really well and we look forward to the second stage opening in September 2015, when residents from Lehmann House home in Wickham Market will be joining us and the day club will open for older people living locally.”

New home manager Sue Hill has organised a range of activities and visits to ensure the residents’ first Christmas at the new Mills Meadow is a particularly special occasion.

Sue Hill said: “We’re all looking forward to Christmas here, we’ve had fun putting up Christmas trees and making decorations. We have also welcomed young pupils from nearby Dennington Primary School and Sir Robert Hitcham’s Primary School who came in to sing some wonderful Christmas carols with us.

We’ve also had a fantastic visit from the comedy and musical group Frantic Theatre and from a Dorris Day tribute! Keeping active and having different things to look forward to is really important for older people, especially at Christmas time.”
