Hampton Hill care home has a hoot of a day

Company news

Birdsong and binoculars were the order of the day at Care UK’s Hampton Hill care home, Laurel Dene, as residents enjoyed a special bird-themed event including a visit from a local ornithology group.

Following on from the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, representatives from RAF Halton Ornithological group dropped into Laurel Dene with Lily the barn owl and residents of the home made the most of the opportunity to get close to the native bird.

Representatives from the RSPB and Friends of the River Crane were also in attendance, and home manager, Kathy Harman, presented each group with a £50 donation to support initiatives which encourage more wildlife into Hampton Hill.

Speaking about the day, Kathy said: “Since we took part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, many of the residents have taken a keen interest in birds. We decided it would be a great to arrange for a bird themed day and invite relevant local organisations to the home.

“We’re always looking to plan interesting and exciting things for the residents and the ornithology group visit was enjoyed by all. Animals and wildlife have therapeutic value, especially for those living with dementia, and Lily the owl bought a smile to the residents’ faces.”

Situated on Hampton Road, Laurel Dene has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full time residential nursing and dementia care.
