Broadwater Lodge is celebrating having been shortlisted for a national award.
The home is a finalist in the Care Team Award category at the Great British Care Awards, thanks to the 40-strong Care UK team’s specialist training and passion for improving the lives of those living with dementia.
The Great British Care Awards pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
The team has been praised for their care for the 67 residents at Broadwater Lodge, the majority of whom are living with dementia, and the closeness within which they work with the residents’ families.
The home itself has been designed to encourage residents to build relationship. Each suite has its own lounge and dining area, helping to create a ‘community within a community’ feeling, which helps to create a calm and settled atmosphere, and is particularly helpful for residents living with dementia.
Angela Bookham, home manager at Broadwater Lodge, said: ”We are thrilled to have been nominated in the Care Team Award category at this year’s Great British Care Awards.
“Residents are at the heart of everything we do at Broadwater Lodge. Everyone receives the same focus and individual support – there is a strong sense that the home is one big family and we are very proud of the warm and welcoming environment we have created.
“The nomination is a result of the hard work of each and every team member, and we have our fingers crossed for success at the ceremony!”
