Bowes House celebrates another successful Care Home Open Day

Home news

There was fun for all at Bowes House when it invited the local community in for a day of celebrations.

The team at Bowes House welcomed the people of Hailsham to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.

The team marked the occasion by throwing a royal-inspired party in honour of the Queen’s 92nd birthday. There was live entertainment throughout the day from Full Beam Productions, which had guests and residents singing along to their favourite hits, while younger visitors enjoyed a spell-binding performance from local magician, Robbie Gold.

Guests and residents enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea along with a cake sale, with a variety of delicious baked goods on offer. Visitors could also peruse stalls offering a selection of handmade crafts and gifts, candles, and more.

Helena Barrow, home manager at Bowes House, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon marking Care Home Open Day at Bowes House. The residents all really enjoyed celebrating the Queen’s birthday with an afternoon tea, and we had a wonderful day. Forming intergenerational relationships is beneficial for both residents and younger visitors, so it was great to see visitors of all ages getting on so well!

“Care Home Open Day is all about establishing relationships with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like, so it was brilliant that so many of our neighbours came along to celebrate. We would like to say a big thank you to Full Beam Productions and Robbie Gold, as well as the people of Hailsham, for making the day so special.”
