Field Lodge welcomes three generations

Home news

Field Lodge has launched a scheme to bring together residents, parents and children via a series of interactive workshops.

Field Lodge welcomed a group of mums and babies to the home for an inter-generational workshop designed to bring parents, babies and older people together in a bid to combat loneliness and feelings of isolation.

The ‘Love to Move’ pilot session, co-ordinated by Kim Hall, from the British Gymnastics Foundation, brought together children aged between 8 weeks and 15 months and Field Lodge residents, for what is hoped to become a new nationwide scheme.

The ground-breaking project includes fun, stimulating activities including, bubble blowing and sing-alongs, with each activity carefully selected to ensure it is developmentally appropriate for all ages.

Linda Martinez, home manager at Field Lodge, said: “At Field Lodge we love to build upon our relationships with the local community, and are always open to new ways of bringing everyone together.

“Meaningful activity is an important part of the care we provide at Field Lodge, and this class is extra special as it includes three generations and offers a forum in which to connect and talk.

“It was wonderful to see the smiles on the faces of children and adults alike, and to see genuine friendships blossom between the residents and children. We look forward to welcoming the children back to the home throughout the project.”
