Horndean care home shortlisted for top national award

A care home in Horndean is celebrating after making the shortlist at a national award ceremony. 

Care UK’s Pear Tree Court, on Portsmouth Road, has been shortlisted in the Care Establishment of the Year category for its commitment to recognising the dietary needs of individuals and ensuring there is always a variety of nutritious dishes on offer.

The National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Awards recognises those working in and associated with catering in the UK care sector. Team members at Pear Tree Court have been praised for ensuring that residents dine with dignity, have plenty of choice, and are served great food that looks, tastes and is of the same quality as fine dining. 

Stuart Passey, head chef at Pear Tree Court, said: “I’m thrilled that the catering team here at Pear Tree Court have been recognised in the NACC Awards. The entire team works incredibly hard to ensure residents are provided with nutritious, tasty menus and quality food, and we’re delighted for this to be recognised at a national level.”

David Taylor, home manager at Pear Tree Court, added: “We’re so proud of Stuart and the team – each and every person is a credit to Pear Tree Court. They work incredibly hard to make mealtimes enjoyable for all, and go the extra mile to bake delicious cakes, sweet treats and snacks for everyone at the home.
