Ipswich care home turns to community for inspiration

Ipswich’s newest care home is asking for help with choosing a name – and there is a £250 prize for the winner.

Care UK is building a home on Kettlebaston Way and is calling on the Suffolk community to find a name that reflects the uniqueness and cultural history of the town, taking inspiration from the area’s history, landmarks or well-known figures.

The winning entry, which will be chosen by a panel of judges, will receive a £250 prize and have the satisfaction of naming a building in the area.

Jason Protheroe, Development Project Manager for Care UK, said: “Choosing a name for a care home is a special moment, and it’s important to us that it reflects the community it will serve.

“Suffolk has such a rich cultural and historical identity and we know its residents will have some fantastic ideas.

“Whether the inspiration comes from a local landmark, a much‑loved figure or a story unique to the area, we’re really looking forward to seeing the suggestions come in.”

Those wishing to enter the competition can visit careuk.com/care-homes/ipswich/ipswich-home-naming-competition before 11.59pm on Friday 24th July to make their suggestions.*

Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, the new Care UK home in Ipswich will incorporate plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies, including an on-site café, cinema room and a hair and beauty salon. An expert team will provide residential, dementia and respite care, while the layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
