Samantha Atkin

Home Manager

Samantha Atkin

I have worked in the healthcare sector for 20 years, six of those in management roles.

Along the way, I’ve achieved my Level 3 in Health and Social Care, my Care Practitioner Award, and a diploma in accounting. I’m currently completing my Level 5 Leader in Adult Care qualification. Before becoming Home Manager, I worked as a Care Practitioner and Deputy Manager, experiences that gave me a strong foundation for the role I hold today.

I joined Care UK through a transfer from another home, and after researching the organisation, I was excited to continue my career here. Care UK’s focus on high standards of care for residents and colleagues matches my own values. To do this role well, I believe you must be approachable, dependable, empathetic, and adaptable, with excellent communication skills.

The highlight of my day is always time spent with residents, listening to their life stories and favourite memories. Supporting them to achieve their goals is especially rewarding. I’m proud to lead the team here at Beverley Parklands, where we work together to create a true sense of family and belonging.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my young daughter and reading.

Amy Rawlings
Amy Rawlings
Deputy Manager

I am the Deputy Manager at Beverley Parklands Care Home, having progressed into this role from my previous position as a Senior Care Assistant. Throughout my career, I have taken part in a range of training and development opportunities, which have helped me build strong knowledge and confidence within the care sector.

I believe the key qualities needed for my role are strong communication skills, empathy, attention to detail and effective leadership. These qualities help me to support both residents and colleagues, ensuring the home runs smoothly while always keeping people at the heart of what we do.

My favourite part of the working day is spending time with residents. Whether it’s sharing a quiet moment, offering reassurance or supporting someone with their individual needs, these interactions remind me why I chose a career in care and why it is so rewarding.

Becoming Deputy Manager has been a significant career highlight for me. The role has allowed me to grow as a leader, support my colleagues and make a meaningful difference to the lives of residents and their families. I am especially proud of the care we provide for residents living with dementia, ensuring they feel safe, respected and truly valued.

The most important part of my role is making sure every resident receives person-centred care that protects their dignity and enhances their quality of life.

Outside of work, I love spending time with children, creating special memories together, as well as travelling and exploring new places.

Deputy Manager

I have worked at Beverley Parklands for seven years as Deputy Manager and feel proud to be part of such a caring and committed team. Before joining the home, I spent ten years as a trainer, supporting others to develop their skills and confidence within the care sector.

I hold a Level 3 in Health and Social Care, a Level 3 PTLLS teaching qualification, and have completed ‘train the trainer’ courses in fire safety, moving and handling, health and safety, and infection control. I also hold A1 Assessor and V1 Internal Verifier awards, which have strengthened my passion for quality and continual improvement.

For me, compassion, empathy and good communication are at the heart of effective leadership. I believe in being approachable and supportive to residents, relatives and colleagues alike. My favourite part of the day is spending time with residents and welcoming new people into our home.

One of my proudest career highlights was helping Beverley Parklands achieve an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating. The most important part of my role is maintaining high standards and ensuring residents receive truly person-centred, compassionate care.

Outside of work, I love walking my dog and spending time with family and friends.

Maintenance

I bring more than 35 years of experience in property maintenance and refurbishment to my role at Beverley Parklands. Before joining the team here, I worked as a maintenance man in another care home, and I have always enjoyed hands-on work and keeping buildings safe, functional and welcoming.

To do this job well, I think you need patience, strong communication skills and the ability to really listen. My favourite time of day is the morning because it always feels productive. The home is coming to life, and it is a good time to get ahead with jobs and plan for the day. Anticipating potential maintenance issues is an important part of my role, as well as setting work targets and achieving them. Keeping the home safe for residents and colleagues is always my priority.

Working here has been a real career highlight for me. I feel a strong sense of belonging and I value the close attachments I have built with residents. Knowing I am needed and that my work makes a difference means a great deal.

Outside of work I enjoy socialising, spending time with my family and going on long walks with the dog.

Lynn Miller
Head of Housekeeping

I have completed key training in infection control and cross contamination, which is essential within my role. I began my journey in care working in domestic, laundry and cleaning roles at a care home in Swansea, where I developed a strong understanding of how every role contributes to residents’ wellbeing.

I believe the most important qualities for my role are patience, dedication and respect. I always treat people the way I would like to be treated myself, whether that is residents, families or colleagues. Knowing that I have done the very best I can each day gives me a real sense of satisfaction.

I am proud of the hard work I have put into my career and of the progress I have made along the way. I am especially proud of the team I work with at Beverley Parklands. They consistently go above and beyond in everything they do, and it is a privilege to support them and work alongside such dedicated colleagues.

Supporting others is a key part of my role, whether that is helping colleagues when they need it or stepping in wherever the home needs support. Working together makes a real difference to the care we provide.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my family and socialising with friends.
