Vongai Mushinga

Home Manager

Vongai Mushinga

I’ve been part of the Chandler Court team for a few years and have been Clinical Lead as well as Deputy Manager.

I originally joined the team because Care UK’s vision and values resonated with me. I also wanted to be part of an organisation that’s leading the way in the health and social care sector.

I’m a Registered Nurse and have worked for various providers in acute and residential care services. I was a Critical Care Nurse in the NHS and the private sector for some years. I always wanted to work in residential care because you have the time to get to know the people you’re caring for, which is extremely rewarding. A nurse in the NHS doesn’t get that opportunity.

Every day is rewarding in this role. Being able to make a person smile or laugh, or to bring them comfort, is the reason why I do this job. Any difference I can make to a resident’s day, no matter how small, is a big highlight for me. I also love supporting the home team to develop their skills and fulfil their potential through training and by taking on new opportunities in the home.

I like to unwind by listening to music, spending time with family and friends, and travelling (when I can). I’m fascinated by other cultures and their history.

Ros Lockley
Customer Relations Manager

I was a Customer Relations Manager for another large care provider before joining Care UK in 2022.

After hearing the feedback from other colleagues who had worked for Care UK and seeing the varied lifestyle provision they offered, I was keen to join!

I have extensive training in customer service and sales. A Customer Relations Manager needs to be able to sensitively and compassionately manage the enquiry process, from being the first point of contact to showing a family around the home and admitting their loved one.

The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the residents living more fulfilling lives. I feel lucky to see the enjoyment our lifestyle team brings to residents’ lives, as well as the contentment they feel being in a safe, cared for and homely yet fun environment.

Outside of work, I enjoy countryside walks and dining out with friends. Music is also a big passion of mine, and with music comes dancing! Equally, I love the peace, tranquility and contentment of home.

Nicola Burton
Head Chef

I’ve worked as a chef in the care home sector for a long time and have even won awards for what I do.

I love cooking for people and being able to make a difference to an older person’s day. The residents appreciate the little touches – the way food is presented and served. It’s great to get their instant feedback.

Being part of a team launching a brand new care home is both challenging and exciting at the same time! We need to make sure we get things right from the start, so the pressure’s on, but the rewards are just as great.

Away from work I love to travel: I’ve a long list of places I want to see. I also enjoy spending time with family, including my two grandchildren. And, of course, I enjoy cooking – particularly finding new recipes to try.

Sally Healey
Business Administrator

I’ve worked for Care UK since 2013.

Before joining the company I was a support worker in the community. I would give emotional and practical support to people living with dementia, as well as people living with addictions and mental health challenges.

It was quite a challenge to change career path, but the company is very supportive. It was a huge highlight to be offered this role, and to be recognised for my customer relationship skills. I’m really enjoying getting to know my colleagues, the residents themselves as well as their families.

But what I enjoy most about working here is being able to make residents smile. That makes my day – it’s what delivering great care is all about.

Elvira Milevica
Head Housekeeper

I started at Chandler Court in 2018.

I started my care journey as a Care Assistant in domiciliary care and, after a few years, I wanted a new challenge but still within the care industry. When the job of Head Housekeeper became available at Care UK, I knew that this was the right, new challenge for me and I’m so glad I took the leap.

As the Head Housekeeper, I need to make sure I have a keen eye for detail to ensure that residents have a lovely clean home to live in. But, more importantly, I also need to be able to communicate to residents effectively and I like to ensure that I’m making a difference to their lives.

One of my favourite parts of my role is building the relationships with residents and making them laugh.

In my spare time I like to listen to music and spend time with my family. I also like to travel to different countries and learn about other cultures
