I am a Registered Nurse with additional qualifications in Older Adult Mental Health, Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. I am a trained Safer People Handling Lead and a Mental Health First Aider. I chose to work at Care UK because resident focus was prioritised through their values and vision.
I believe that a person in this role needs to be passionate and driven, with a vision for service and outcome improvement. You should be knowledgeable and able to lead and guide others, providing structured support for residents and colleagues alike. Supporting my team is the most important part of my role, whether that’s assisting my Home Manager or providing mentorship, guidance and education to colleagues.
Ever since I started working as a carer, my favourite part of the job has been interacting with residents. I love to catch up with residents every day, find out how they are and help to improve their day. I feel proud whenever I see a smile on the face of a resident or colleague, or when I hear laughter, whether instigated by myself or not, happiness is a collaborative achievement.
The team at Chandler Court is truly wonderful and have made immense improvements in the home. I feel we will continue to achieve great things.
I have 20 years of experience working within care homes and in home care. After a period of working arranging home care, I realised that a care home was where I wanted to be again.
Chandler Court is a beautiful care home with an excellent and caring team – I'm very proud to introduce Chandler Court to prospective residents and their family members, as well as the local community.
As Customer Relations Manager, my most important role is building relationships and seeing the positive difference we make to people’s lives. No two days are the same, and I love the variety and unpredictability. In this role you need to be friendly, positive, compassionate and caring, as well as level-headed, adaptable and approachable.
Talking to residents and their family members and introducing them to our home makes me proud of what I do, and seeing residents enjoy life at Chandler Court makes me feel fulfilled.
I have three dogs, so walking is a big part of my family’s life outside of work. We like to discover new places as well as walk our favourite local routes. We all love camping holidays, dogs included!
Before joining Chandler Court in 2023, I was a Care Team Manager. I decided I wanted to do something different, and I had heard good things about Chandler Court.
To be a Lifestyle Lead, I think it’s important to be organised, positive, friendly, caring and a good team player. You also need to be kind-natured and have strong qualifications. I’ve achieved my Level 1, 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care.
My first job when I joined was to plan a big anniversary party in just two weeks! It was slightly hectic, but we made it happen. My favourite part of this role is taking part in the activities and seeing the rewards of the support I provide.
I look forward to continuing to build relationships with my colleagues and the residents.
Outside of work, I unwind by walking and going to the gym, and I also enjoy painting and doing arts and crafts.
I used to work as a Carer, but I joined Chandler Court in April 2021 because I wanted to make a difference and provide fulfilling lives for residents.
I enjoy every part of this job. Making residents laugh or smile always makes me think, ‘Yep, I’ve got this!’. Knowing the residents leave an activity happy and positive about what they’ve done is the best feelings – I’d say it’s the highlight of my career.
A bubbly personality helps as a Lifestyle Coordinator, and you also need to be empathetic and a team player. I hope to continue making a difference in the lives of residents and families.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy reading and cooking for friends.
I’ve worked as a chef in the care home sector for a long time and have even won awards for what I do. I love cooking for people and being able to make a difference to an older person’s day. The residents appreciate the little touches – the way food is presented and served. It’s great to get their instant feedback.
Being part of a team launching a brand new care home is both challenging and exciting at the same time! We need to make sure we get things right from the start, so the pressure’s on, but the rewards are just as great.
Away from work I love to travel: I’ve a long list of places I want to see. I also enjoy spending time with family, including my two grandchildren. And, of course, I enjoy cooking – particularly finding new recipes to try.
I studied at Birmingham College of Food and did an apprenticeship at Ramada Hotels, now Hilton Hotels, where I was trained on the job. Before joining Chandler Court, I was a Head Chef at a contract caterer, but I wanted to try something different and work somewhere where I could really make a difference.
I think you need to be enthusiastic, patient and above all else enjoy what you do as a chef. Listening to and understanding the residents’ needs and making sure I'm doing everything possible to make them happy is the most important part of my role.
I love seeing the meals out on the floor. Mealtimes are a lot of the residents’ highlights of the day, and it’s good to see them happy. Knowing that I've impacted people’s lives for the better makes me proud of what I do.
A career highlight was winning Chef of the Year at the Care UK Stars Awards 2022.
When I’m not working, I enjoy listening to music and watching most sports.
I’ve worked for Care UK since 2013. Before joining the company I was a support worker in the community. I would give emotional and practical support to people living with dementia, as well as people living with addictions and mental health challenges.
It was quite a challenge to change career path, but the company is very supportive. It was a huge highlight to be offered this role, and to be recognised for my customer relationship skills. I’m really enjoying getting to know my colleagues, the residents themselves as well as their families.
But what I enjoy most about working here is being able to make residents smile. That makes my day – it’s what delivering great care is all about.
I started at Chandler Court in 2018. I started my care journey as a Care Assistant in domiciliary care and, after a few years, I wanted a new challenge but still within the care industry. When the job of Head Housekeeper became available at Care UK, I knew that this was the right, new challenge for me and I’m so glad I took the leap.
As the Head Housekeeper, I need to make sure I have a keen eye for detail to ensure that residents have a lovely clean home to live in. But, more importantly, I also need to be able to communicate to residents effectively and I like to ensure that I’m making a difference to their lives.
One of my favourite parts of my role is building the relationships with residents and making them laugh.
In my spare time I like to listen to music and spend time with my family. I also like to travel to different countries and learn about other cultures
