Trusted to care in Dorking
We’re an innovative, creative and caring team at Stanecroft and we love enabling the people we care for to live meaningful and rewarding lives. Each of us – whether we work in the kitchen or in housekeeping or on the nursing team – makes a difference. Find out more about us on these pages.
I wanted to work at Stanecroft and Care UK because I felt the organisation had values that chimed with my own – particularly in the way that residents are put at the heart of their care. Care UK is also very committed to helping team members to develop and progress, and that’s certainly been true of my experience.
My role is very varied and ranges from facilitating CQC inspections to doing new colleague interviews and even helping to make residents’ wishes come true. No two days are ever quite the same, which is how I like it! By far the best part of each day, though, is seeing residents engaged, laughing, smiling and having a great time. That’s what it’s all about.
There’s a strong teamworking ethic at Stanecroft and we have a skilled and experienced team that’s dedicated to delivering the best quality care. I’m very focused on us achieving an ‘outstanding’ rating from the CQC and I know the rest of the team is too.
I’ve been part of the Stanecroft team for seven years, and I joined because I kept hearing that Care UK was such a good organisation to work for. You’re supported to learn and progress your career here: I’ve done my NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, which has definitely been a career highlight for me.
There’s a very strong family atmosphere at Stanecroft, with strong bonds between the team and the residents and their families. I’m committed to ensuring that the residents are happy and having fun each day. I do whatever I can to make that happen, whether it’s working one-to-one with someone, or getting everyone together for a singalong or some baking.
When I’m not at work my twins keep me busy. You can often find me horse riding too.
I’ve been part of the Stanecroft team for several years. I joined the home from a background working in head and executive chef roles to achieve a better work/life balance (cheffing in restaurants and hotels is well known for its anti-social hours!).
While working in a care home is a very different working environment to the one I was used to when I joined the team, this role has continued to challenge me. For a start, it’s important that, as Head Chef, I understand the needs and preferences of every resident we care for.
I’ve also developed a great kitchen team around me, who I’m very proud of. We work well together and our combination of skills means we’re well placed to deliver the best menus and service for residents.
In my free time I enjoy gardening, canal and river cruising, and, obviously, cooking!
Every day Care UK colleagues live our values of passionate, caring and teamwork to empower residents to enjoy fulfilling lives.
Our hardworking teams always keep residents and their families at the heart of the care they provide. We work with you to shape the care your loved one receives, the food they’re served, the activities and experiences they want to do – even the ways they prefer to keep in touch with their friends and family.
The nurses at Care UK are highly skilled and receive sector-leading training, which enables them to keep developing expertise in different clinical fields from dementia to palliative care.
Our dedicated lifestyle teams work hard to organise a range of activities and events at our home. From gardening and baking to quizzes, music sessions and even live entertainment. Above all, we get to know your loved one to make sure our activities are tailored to suit their interests and hobbies.
From catering to maintenance, housekeeping to administration, our home support teams play a crucial part in ensuring residents enjoy an exceptional and safe service every day.
All our teams get to know residents to ensure they provide a service that’s designed around their unique needs and tastes.
Each of our homes have a trained Infection Control and Prevention Champion – they are responsible for carrying out daily infection control audit and ensuring cleaning protocols are meticulously applied.
