New educational facility for Corvedale Care

Company news

A full time subject specialist curriculum is successfully operating and we are already seeing National Performance Indicators comfortably exceeded.

The School offers a stimulating programme which delivers a balance of classroom-based work and a range of activities and visits that draw on the local facilities and environment. This full-time programme, (of 25 hours per week), is linked to the National Curriculum, ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) and our own A.B.L.E. scheme (Activity Based Learning Experiences). The school is registered with a number of examination boards and successfully delivers courses leading to GCSE Entry Level Certificates and a variety of the ASDAN awards. Links to local colleges and training organisations provide access to vocational courses.

The special educational needs of each child are documented in an Individual Education Plan (IEP) that is drawn up by the Special Educational Needs Coordinator and reviewed each half term.

Additional to the IEP is the Behaviour Management Plan (BMP) which identifies particular emotional and behavioural difficulties and details strategies used to address them. Each half term the teachers, in consultation with the pupils, will profile progress and review behavioural and academic targets.

Learning for Life School is determined to provide a dynamic and supportive learning environment to meet the social and educational needs of up to 16 young people aged eleven to sixteen years. Our aim is to empower our young people so that they may progress their social and educational development, and gain the personal resources, attitudes and abilities that will inform their life choices and expand their life options.

We believe every young person attending the school, and its sister school near Welshpool, for a year or more, will achieve at least one GCSE pass equivalent. Day pupil places are also available to neighbouring Local Education Authorities
