Read all about the best of Meadow Court’s events

Company news

Debra Mcdonald, Activities Assistant at Meadow Court tells us all about the best of this year’s events so far.

At Meadow Court, as well as the many daily activities and entertainment we run, we work hard to organise lots of special events for residents to enjoy and we encourage relatives, friends and the community to join in too.

Our first big event of the year was Valentine’s Day and we all dressed in red to mark the occasion and enjoyed special Valentine’s cupcakes!

Easter is always a favourite time for our residents and as part of the celebrations we decided to run an Easter Bonnet Competition. All the residents got crafty and made some great hats but the winner’s prize went to our Terracotta cluster.

At Meadow Court we have residents and team members from many different cultures so in May we organised a special multi-cultural day where we all came together to celebrate our diversity and share our cultures. It was a wonderful day with everyone wearing their own cultural dress and having the opportunity to taste food and drink from many different countries.

In June we welcomed a very special visitor, The Deputy Mayor of Redbridge, to Meadow Court. The Deputy Mayor came to our open day and was really impressed with the welcoming and friendly atmosphere. As part of the National Care Home Open Day initiative we opened our doors to the community, showcasing our sensory room and our expertise in caring whilst providing plenty of food, drink and entertainment for visitors.

We had our annual BBQ hosted by our manager in July which was a success as always (although I have been asked not to take to the Karaoke machine again!).

Our beach day in August was a fantastic event which everyone participated in (people are still talking about it now!). We had sand, inflatable toys, flags, candy floss and all the others things you expect to see at the beach!

Now we are planning our next few events which will include a pumpkin competition as part of our Halloween celebrations!

Seeing everyone enjoying our events is so rewarding but I couldn’t do it without the participation of our residents and the support of our team members and relatives so thank you all!
