Maldon nurse wins national care award for dedication to care home residents

Company news

A nurse at Care UK’s St. Peter’s Court care home in Maldon has won a national award for her commitment to delivering life-enhancing care for older people.

Lisa Scott, who is also the clinical lead, won the award for her work in promoting care, dignity and choice for residents at the home in Spital Road through excellent nursing care, empathy and compassion for residents and their relatives.

Lisa received several nominations for the award from her team and from relatives of people who have made St. Peter’s Court their home. Glenda Bocking, whose husband has lived at the home for seven years, told judges that Lisa is an outstanding nurse in every way.

She said: “Lisa finds out the answer to any question, she follows everything up and her knowledge has been invaluable to us over the years. She is incredibly dedicated and has a wonderful manner. Always professional, caring and understanding with residents and relatives alike, she is a first class nurse and it is a privilege to have her at St. Peter’s Court.”

Carer Lyndsey Tyndall wrote to judges to praise Lisa’s dedication not only to residents but also to her team. She said: “Lisa has encouraged me to further my career in care and she has trained me to be a team leader, which I’m very grateful for. She is a wonderful person and a great nurse.”

Manager Regina Mparutsa agreed, saying: “Lisa’s solid nursing skills have commanded the respect of the whole team, as each day she works to provide the very best care for people with complex care needs. This, added to a lovely, warm nature, makes her a true star in our caring profession.”

Lisa, who says she was stunned when her name was read aloud by Care UK’s chief executive Mike Parish at the awards ceremony, held in Oxford on Thursday 14th November, said: “I am lucky to have such a wonderful job working with such a great team and lovely residents. I have learned a great deal from my 11 years at St. Peter’s Court and I am delighted that I can share that experience with my colleagues for the benefit of our residents.”

The awards were open to all Care UK homes and wellbeing centres across the country.
