Practically perfect patient perspective at Peninsula

Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre, saved from closure at the end of last year thanks in great part to the support of its patients, has proved its popularity with the people it treats in an NHS survey of patient satisfaction.

The Friends and Family Test is carried out at every clinical facility in the country which treats NHS patients. In it, patients are asked to score various aspects of their experience and provide comments, as well as state whether or not they would recommend the facility to friends and family.

Between 1st July 2014 and 31st July 2015, an amazing 99.2 per cent of patients at Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre said they would recommend it to their friends and family.

Patients’ comments included: “If only all hospitals were like this one!”; “great service”, and; “could not be faulted – the staff and facilities are excellent.”

The annual Friends and Family Test statistics come hard on the heels of excellent results for Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre in the Patient Led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE), carried out by teams of NHS and private/independent health care providers, and include at least 50 per cent members of the public (known as patient assessors).

Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre outperformed the national average against all PLACE criteria. The hospital achieved 100 per cent for cleanliness and privacy, dignity and wellbeing; more than 96 per cent for condition, appearance and maintenance; 91 per cent for food and; over 89 per cent for dementia provision.

Patricia Warwick, Hospital Director at Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre, commented: “Both the Friends and Family Test and PLACE are important to us, because they are good indicators of what our patients think of their treatment with us – and that is so vital. We are delighted to have performed well in both measures and our thanks go to those patients who have taken the time and trouble to take part.”
