Sandfields residents soak up the sun for Care Home Open Day

Home news

Residents at Sandfields welcomed the local community for a summer garden party in celebration of Care Home Open Day.

Sandfields was one of thousands of homes across the UK to take part in Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative designed to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

Residents and visitors were treated to live music from Betsy Goodman and Neil Patterson who performed some classics and jazz favourites, as well as a traditional picnic lunch and a visit from an ice cream van.

Guests also had the opportunity get up close interact with a selection of rescue animals from the Cheltenham Animal Shelter including a bearded dragon, a hedgehog and a border collie.

Deanna Lane, home manager at Sandfields, said: “We had a wonderful afternoon celebrating Care Home Open Day with the local community. The event was a brilliant opportunity to break down preconceptions about care home life and showcase the warm and welcoming care environment here at Sandfields.

“It was wonderful to be joined by the Cheltenham Animal Shelter and you could see from residents’ reactions just how engaged and fascinated they were by the chance to get so close to such a varied collection of animals.

“We look forward to welcoming the people of Cheltenham to join us again very soon.”
