Company news

Care UK team members across the UK are celebrating after being shortlisted for the regional finals of the Great British Care Awards.

No fewer than 14 Care UK team members have been nominated in one of the most prestigious awards in the industry.

Care UK teams at Colne View in Halstead are celebrating a double nomination with Jake Perrie for the Dementia Carer of the Year category, and Omar Taylor for the Care Team of the Year. Also shortlisted for the East of England finals is Michelle di Bella from Cherry Orchard in Dagenham, nominated in the Care Home Manager category, and Sam Shepherd from Field Lodge in Cambridgeshire for Activities Organiser of the Year.

In the North West final, Hollins Park in Macclesfield are hopeful that Tracy Norbury and Julie Okhae will scoop top prize in the Care Team and Good Nurse categories. Jude Lumb from Abney Court in Cheadle has also been nominated for the Dementia Carer award due to her commitment to understanding every resident’s individual needs.

In the West Midlands, David Ible from Sandfields in Cheltenham has also been nominated in the Activities Organiser category. David has been described as a ‘huge asset to the team’ thanks to his dedication to providing all residents with a varied and active lifestyle.

Shortlisted for the Palliative Care/End of Life Award in the North East final is Beverley Bayles, from Ponteland Manor in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her ability to establish a relationship with residents and their families and carry out their wishes is a clear talent of Beverley’s, and the team at Ponteland Manor are hopeful that she will win.

The South East final sees five Care UK homes nominated. Teams at Appleby House in Epsom, Clara Court in Maidenhead, Broadwater Lodge in Godalming, Oak House in Slough are all celebrating the hard work of their team members who have been shortlisted.

Maria Mandapat from Clara Court, Angela Bookham from Broadwater Lodge, Amy Giles from Oak House and Jon Sneath from Priors House are also nominated for awards in the South East final.

Angela Bookham, home manager at Broadwater Lodge, said: “We are thrilled to have been nominated in the Care Team Award category at this year’s Great British Care Awards.

“Residents are at the heart of everything we do at Broadwater Lodge. Everyone receives the same focus and individual support – there is a strong sense that the home is one big family and we are very proud of the warm and welcoming environment we have created.

“The nomination is a result of the hard work of each and every team member, and we have our fingers crossed for success at the ceremony!”
