Senior representatives from the local authority and Care UK joined with residents for the celebration which marked the success of the ongoing partnership, which Health Investor magazine recognised as the Best Public/Private Partnership of the Year. The prestigious national accolade was awarded at this year’s Health Investor Awards, with judges commenting on Care UK’s innovative approach and commitment to quality and expertise.
Mildenhall Lodge was the first of 10 care homes in Suffolk to be commissioned for the £60 million development project, which has been an invaluable support to older people across Suffolk.
Michael Hennessey, director of adults and communities at Suffolk County Council, joined Care UK’s regional director for Suffolk, Phillip Steyn, resident Mary Pulham and Mildenhall Lodge home manager, Katy Hughes to unveil the commemorative plaque.
Katy Hughes, home manager at Mildenhall Lodge, said: “We had a wonderful day celebrating the success of the partnership with Suffolk County Council.
“It was an honour to host the event at Mildenhall Lodge and be joined by fellow Suffolk care homes for this special occasion. As the first home to be built as part of the project, it was fantastic to mark this anniversary with representatives from Suffolk County Council and Care UK.”
Mike Hennessey said: “It was great to celebrate all that the partnership has achieved over the past five with the residents and the local community. The partnership between Suffolk County Council and Care UK has delivered 10 purpose built homes, able to meet the care needs of Suffolk residents now and in the future. I look forward to working with Care UK colleagues to build on these achievements for the future.”
