On Saturday 21st April, from 2pm-4.30pm, the team at The Burroughs will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event. The day is in celebration of Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
The team at The Burroughs has organised a Commonwealth themed party to celebrate the open day and will have homemade bunting inspired by countries from around the Commonwealth decorating the home.
Visitors can look forward to watching the second day of the Whitby Dene vs The Burroughs Commonwealth Games, with residents participating in various sports throughout the day. There will also be a special closing and passing of the torch ceremony, including live entertainment and fireworks. A trophy will be awarded to the winning team and all participants will receive a medal. Visitors will also enjoy some delicious food dishes from different Commonwealth countries.
Saad Baig, home manager at The Burroughs, said: “Care Home Open Day is about connecting people and enriching the lives of residents by building lasting relationships with the local community that spans the generations.
“Residents have enjoyed taking inspiration from countries across the Commonwealth and creating bunting ready to decorate the home on Care Home Open Day. We cannot wait to open our doors to showcase the residents’ homemade decorations and everything that The Burroughs has to offer. We have planned a fun day for all the family and a warm welcome awaits the people of West Drayton.”
