How to prevent slips and trips – Brook Court hosts free advice event

Home news

A popular information event is returning to Brook Court, providing advice about preventing falls among older people.

On Friday 8th June, from 2pm-4pm, Brook Court is welcoming experts to give advice to the community at a free talk.

Representatives from Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust will be visiting the home to offer guidance and information on preventing falls and maintaining independence.

As well as discussing the common causes of slips and trips, Miriam De Almeida Santos and Emma Gardener will be on hand to provide expert advice on how to create safer environments for older people, as well as discussing the activities and exercises that individuals and their relatives can implement to help improve their loved ones’ balance.

After the event there will be a Q&A session, and those who attend will also have the opportunity to meet the team at Brook Court and take a tour of the care home if they wish.

Brook Court home manager, Gill Pratt, said: “Here at Brook Court, we seek to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work. Falls prevention is very important to the team, and to the wellbeing of the residents and older people generally, as accidental falls can occasionally lead to further health issues.

“It is imperative we create a safe environment for older people in the community, and ensure that family and friends have the correct information to prevent accidents, so we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Brook Court for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”
