Celebrations as VIP guest launches new suite at Queen's Court

Home news

Queen's Court has launched its new suite with the help of a VIP guest.

The Mayor of Windsor, Councillor Paul Lion, performed a ceremonial ribbon cutting to officially open the new dementia suite at Queen’s Court.

Local people joined the celebrations, and visitors had the opportunity to take a first look at the newly opened suite, named Runnymede suite, which will provide specialist nursing dementia care for people in Windsor and the surrounding area.

The suite offers a dementia-friendly environment, including reminiscence areas to encourage residents living with dementia to bring back happy memories. It also features a Tovertafel, an interactive ‘magic table’, which stimulates the mind and encourages interaction across the generations.

Michael Daley, a dementia specialist from Care UK, also gave an informative talk to help local people understand what it might be like to live with dementia, and offered practical advice on how to overcome communications barriers.

Anthony Browne, home manager at Queen’s Court, said: “The unveiling of the dementia suite is an important milestone for all of us, as it means we can now meet the demand in Windsor and beyond for advanced dementia care.

“We have built a warm, welcoming community here at Queen’s Court, with everything in place so we can provide the highest standards of personalised care. We were delighted so many people joined us as we marked this important milestone, and we would like to thank the Mayor of Windsor, Councillor Paul Lion, for officially opening the suite.

“We now look forward to welcoming residents to their impressive new home over the coming months.”
