Mayor helps open Mountbatten Grange

Windsor’s newest care home is inviting the local community to attend its grand launch event where the Mayor of Windsor, Councillor Paul Lion, will help to officially open the home.

Mayor helps open Mountbatten Grange

On Thursday 21st February, from 2pm - 4pm, local people are invited to visit Mountbatten Grange to join in the celebrations, which will also be attended by Graham Barker, High Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire.

With the first residents having moved into Mountbatten Grange in late November, everyone at the home is gearing up to mark its official opening – with a little help from some special guests.

Councillor Paul Lion will be cutting the ribbon to officially open the care home, alongside first resident, Margaret Purvis.

On arrival, guests will be welcomed by a harpist. There will also be a musical performance from a jazz band.

After the official proceedings, there will be fun for all the family and a chance to get up close with some friendly alpacas from Penny Bridge Alpacas. Residents and guests will also be able to polish their chocolate making skills during a special workshop, and to try the home’s dementia-friendly ‘Magic Table’, including games such as catching butterflies, sweeping up leaves, throwing a beach ball and nostalgic puzzles.

Those who attend the event will also have the chance to meet the team at Mountbatten Grange and take a tour of the care home.

Mountbatten Grange home manager, Saad Baig, said: “Since we opened the doors to Mountbatten Grange, we have had such a warm and positive response from those living locally, and we already feel like part of the community.  We would therefore like to invite the people of Windsor to be part of our official opening celebrations.

“We have planned a family-friendly event to appeal to all generations, and we are delighted to have so many special guests coming along on the day to help us mark this important milestone.”
