Team members and residents at a Ware care home have been celebrating after they became one of the first homes in the area to receive Covid-19 vaccinations for almost everyone living in the home.
With the support of Dolphin House Surgery, the vast majority of residents at Care UK’s Snowdrop House, on Baldock Street, were given the first dose of the vaccination.
One of the first in the queue for the vaccination was 87-year-old Sheila Peckett, who said: “I am so pleased to have received the vaccine, as I think it’s the most sensible thing to have done and will help us get back to normality.”
Clare Crow, Home Manager at Snowdrop House, said: “We are so pleased that residents in our home have had the vaccination. I would like to offer my thanks to the NHS team at Dolphin House Surgery. They were incredibly efficient, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly, which was much appreciated.
“This is the first step towards getting back to normal, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the year. We’re looking forward to receiving our second dose of the vaccine as soon as we’re able.”
Care UK is keen to stress that the vaccine doesn’t provide full protection against the virus so its teams will continue to follow their stringent infection control measures including regular deep cleaning, regular testing, the use of masks and other PPE, social distancing, air purifiers and temperature checks to keep everyone safe.
Snowdrop House delivers a full range of residential and nursing care for older people, including short-term respite care, and specialist care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
