Get your ducks in row – local care home to host community family fun event

Home news

A care home in Stroud is inviting the local community to a fun-filled outdoor event for families.

On Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th May, from 11.30am, Care UK’s Scarlet House, on Westward Road, will host its own socially-distanced duck trail in aid of The Pied Piper Appeal.

Get your ducks in row – local care home to host community family fun eventThe trail will go from the home’s car park to its gardens and will feature handmade duck cut-outs decorated by residents and pupils at Co-op Childcare Cainscross, with various clues to be collected along the way. Younger intrepid explorers will also receive art packs and duck-themed prizes for completing the trail.

To book their place, families must pay a £2 entry fee via the home’s Just Giving profile – all the proceeds will then go towards the Pied Piper Appeal, a charity which supports ill and disabled children in Gloucestershire.  There will also be Marshalls in place to ensure social distancing and facilitate safe flow, while adults are encouraged to wear face coverings.

Dot Pye, Home Manager at Scarlet House, said: “We’re incredibly excited to host of very first duck trail here at Scarlet House. Resident and children at Co-op Childcare Cainscross have been busy decorating the ducks, and we can’t wait to showcase the result of their hard work to the rest of the community.

“With restrictions starting to ease up, we felt like the bank holiday weekend would be the perfect opportunity for families to come together and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon looking for clues in our beautiful garden – all for a good cause.

“We’d recommend families to book their spot as soon as possible – spaces are limited to ensure we’re able to follow all social distancing guidelines, and we expect it to be a sell-out.”

Scarlet House is a state-of-the-art care home and provides full-time residential, nursing, dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The care home, which features 86 ensuite bedrooms, has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
