Piece of cake – Godalming care home whisks up essential funds at local charity café

Home news

A Godalming care home has raised over £250 for the Alzeheimer’s Society.

Team members at Care UK’s Jubilee House, on Pound Lane, joined forces with The Cellar Café, in Godalming, to raise vital funds for Alzheimer’s Society’s Cupcake Day.Piece of cake – Godalming care home whisks up essential funds at local charity café

Lifestyle Co-ordinators from the home, Yolanda Batoon and Heidi Francis, baked over 100 cupcakes to support the event which was enjoyed by all ages of the Godalming community.

Alongside selling cupcakes, members from the team at Jubilee House were available to offer advice and support for those impacted by dementia, or who know of a friend or relative experiencing difficulties with their memory. Visitors to the stall benefited from professional advice and had the opportunity to take away a Care UK guide offering practical and emotional support for anyone affected by the condition.

Malgo Wcislo, Home Manager at Jubilee House, said: “We have a wonderful community around us here in Godalming, which is reflected in the fantastic amount raised by the bake sale. At Jubilee House, we care for people living with dementia every day, and understand the importance of supporting charities like the Alzheimer’s Society, whose advice and research continue to provide guidance and best practice for a better quality of life.

“We’re thrilled to be donating £252 and hope our efforts will go some way to raising awareness of dementia in the local community – helping everyone to understand a little more about what it’s like to live with the condition.”

Jubilee House has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential care, nursing care, dementia care and respite care. There is also plenty of space, both indoors and out, for relaxation and recreation. The home has a comprehensive activity programme, offering a mix of themed events and group activities.
