Driving Quality Care at Llys Herbert

At Llys Herbert, we are dedicated to delivering the highest quality of service. Our internal regulatory compliance team, which includes  quality inspectors, has closely collaborated with the leadership team to create and implement a comprehensive service improvement plan. The achievement of this plan will validate that the care we provide will be of highest standard, particularly through a service that is well-led and safe.


 Delivering a well-led service

Our team at Llys Herbert is committed to providing good standards of care that promote positive outcomes for residents. In our latest Care Inspectorate Wales report, inspectors found that the care colleagues are sufficiently trained, and people feel confident raising concerns or complaints. 

A new home manager and deputy manager are now in post to improve the quality and leadership in the home. The Care Inspectorate Wales found feedback from residents and colleagues about the new manager is positive, with early improvements noted. One care worker told them, “I welcome the structure and direction the new manager brings, it feels safer”.


Delivering a safe service

At Llys Herbert, we are dedicated to improving people’s lives while protecting their right to live in safety, free from harassment, abuse and neglect. In our latest Care Inspectorate Wales report, inspectors found people are supported to maintain their mental and emotional wellbeing with encouragement from the team, and each resident receives full assessments and personal plans with regular reviews. Residents also shared positive feedback about their carers, describing them as, “very nice and patient,” “friendly and supportive” and “exceptional”.

We are continuing to review our systems, processes, and practices to ensure the safe delivery of care to residents living in the home, including:

  • Over recruiting to +12% to improve staffing levels.
  • Working with dieticians, GPs, physios and falls prevention services to achieve good outcomes for residents.
  • Carrying out regular internal inspections to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Introducing a RISE service improvement plan with specific tasks that must be addressed. It is actioned as per direction for responsibility and reviewed weekly by senior management.

It is like my loved one's second home. He has Alzheimer's and he can't communicate much anymore, but it's obvious from his face and his reactions that he loves the team. The activities team and the carers do everything they can to make his time more enjoyable, and he lights up when he sees them. It's lovely.

It is a very nice new home, well kitted out and a pleasant place to be. The team is lovely and very approachable. My loved one was quite unwell before moving into the home. Hospital left her depleted, but they have done an incredible job observing and meeting her needs. She's put on weight and she's looking so much healthier and happier now. They have a lot of activities happening in the home and a lovely lounge area where all the residents gather. My loved one has been eager to improve his walking and the home has been fantastic in facilitating that and encouraging him… they followed the advice of the physiotherapist and he's getting more involved in things now.

The food options and portions are extremely well tailored to the residents, and the quality is excellent. The chef comes out to speak with the residents and help with serving to make sure everyone is happy and getting what they need... my loved one speaks very highly of the chef.
