Sarah Barrett

Home Manager

Sarah Barrett

I’ve worked in care for nearly two decades.

I started out as a Care Assistant, but have been in management roles for nearly ten years. I joined Care UK because I was keen to find a new challenge. I’d been hearing a lot about the company and I liked the look and feel of the home when I first looked around.

In my role it’s important to listen and support your team, residents and family members. You need to be proactive and think outside the box. I enjoy helping the team to progress in their careers while ensuring that they’re delivering the best quality care. Above all, I believe that Marlet Manor is going great things and has huge potential thanks to our brilliant, hard-working team.

Jay Finch
Customer Relations Manager

I first joined Care UK after many years of working in business, looking for a new challenge where I could help others. I have worked for a charity in previous roles and also many years as a dental technician, so I have always been interested in helping people. I have visited many care homes in my previous roles and was always impressed by Care UK and the way they show compassion and heartfelt care for the residents. I felt like this was a role I could achieve and help families to feel comfortable in the process of transitioning their loved ones into our care.

Working within the home requires compassion, empathy, kindness, professionalism, and a friendly, cheerful personality.

My favorite parts of my day are meeting the families and learning about their loved ones. My role as CRM means being the person that families meet, making them feel welcome and that their most precious family member will be cared for in a loving and dignified manner as they enter a new path in life. Every day I enjoy chatting with the residents and getting to know more about their lives.

Outside of work, I like to run, and I belong to Shoreham Coasters, a local running group where I take part in 5 km and half marathons around the county.

I also enjoy DIY and upcycling old things. I have recently refurbished our house over the last two years, and I am currently enjoying spending time with my wife refurbishing the garden, building a pergola, and outbuilding.
