Emma Medici

Home Manager

Emma Medici

My favourite part of my day at Tranby Park is my morning walkaround, when I can greet my colleagues finishing the night shift and welcome the day team.

It’s a simple routine, but it sets the tone for the day and ensures we remain close as a team.

I hold NVQ Levels 2, 3 and 5 in Health and Social Care and have built my career step by step in the sector. Before joining Tranby Park, I was Deputy Home Manager in a large 84-bedded home, which gave me invaluable experience in leading teams and supporting residents. Becoming a Home Manager has been my biggest career highlight to date, and I’m proud to be in a role where I can make a real difference every day.

To do this role well, I believe it’s essential to have strong leadership and good communication skills, alongside adaptability, flexibility and the ability to build trust. For me, the most important part of being a manager is remaining approachable so that residents, relatives and colleagues always feel supported. In my role, I’m most proud of my fantastic colleagues, who work so hard to provide the highest standards of care.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, socialising, and going on holidays.

Kami Hinksman
Kami Hinksman
Residential Deputy Manager

I have worked in care for ten years and hold my Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care. Before becoming Residential Deputy Manager, I worked as a Day Lead, supporting residents and colleagues across the home.

To do this role well, I think you need to be patient, compassionate and genuinely caring. For me, the best part of each day is spending time talking to residents and getting to know them. It is incredibly rewarding to see how excellent, consistent care can make such a positive difference to someone’s life.

My biggest career highlight so far has been becoming Deputy Manager. I feel proud that I get to come to work every day and help others. Making a difference, even in small ways, is something I never take for granted. Supporting colleagues and residents is the most important part of my role.

Outside of work, I enjoy painting, cross stitch and reading.

Lead Chef

My favourite part of my day at Tranby Park is cooking food that residents genuinely enjoy and spending time chatting with them. Getting to know their likes, dislikes and stories is one of the best parts of working in a care home.

I hold my NVQ Level 2 and 3, along with patisserie, food hygiene and food safety qualifications. Before joining Tranby Park, I worked as a Head Chef, gaining valuable experience in leading a team and delivering high-quality meals.

To do this role well, I think you need strong leadership, the ability to cook to a high standard, excellent food cleanliness and the confidence to stay on top of paperwork.

One of my career highlights was last Christmas when we received amazing feedback from residents and their families. It was incredibly rewarding and a reminder of why I love what I do. I feel proud when the day runs smoothly and we deliver high-quality meals that residents look forward to. Making sure that residents are happy with their food, and with what we do for them, is the most important part of my role.

Outside of work, I enjoy football, a good TV series, hiking, walking, swimming and, of course, cooking.

Lifestyle Coordinator

I’m incredibly proud of my role as Lifestyle Coordinator at Tranby Park. Before stepping into this position, I worked as a Kitchen Assistant here at the home, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to grow and develop my career within Care UK.

I have completed a range of relevant training, including Dementia Awareness, Caring for Older Adults, Person-Centred Care, and becoming a Dementia Friend, along with many other courses that support me in delivering meaningful and engaging activities for residents. I believe the key qualities needed to do this role well are being happy, friendly and outgoing, with a genuinely caring personality.

My favourite part of the day is spending time with residents. Whether it’s sharing a conversation, taking part in activities or simply being there to offer companionship, seeing residents smile and enjoy themselves is what makes my role so rewarding.

My biggest career highlight to date has been becoming a Lifestyle Coordinator. It means so much to be able to make a positive difference to residents’ daily lives. Seeing residents happy makes me feel incredibly proud of the work I do.

The most important part of my role is ensuring all residents are happy, healthy and entertained, helping them to enjoy each day to the fullest.

Outside of work, I enjoy socialising with family and friends or relaxing at home with my husband and watching TV.

Jan Little

Administrator and Receptionist

I’m proud to be part of the team at Tranby Park, supporting both colleagues and residents in my role as Administrator and Receptionist.

Before joining the home, I worked as a family support worker within children and young people’s services, and I bring many of those people focused skills into my work here.

I’ve completed all of Care UK’s in-house training, and I also have RSA typing qualifications and self-taught IT skills that help me keep everything running smoothly.

To do this role well you need to be friendly, approachable and ready for anything. I don’t have a favourite part of the day because every day is different. The work is fluid and varied, which is what I enjoy most. No two days at reception are ever the same.

One of my biggest career highlights was receiving a Care UK award and being recognised by my colleagues as “a rock”. Knowing that the team value my support means a lot.

The most important part of my role is helping our Home Manager and ensuring the home runs smoothly and efficiently.

Outside of work I enjoy knitting, holidays and socialising with friends.

Maintenance

I bring around ten years of hands-on experience in plumbing, joinery, electrics and general maintenance to my role at Tranby Park. Before joining Care UK I worked as a portable appliance testing engineer, and I joined Care UK as I knew I wanted a role where I could use my skills while making a positive difference every day.

To do this job well you need a cheery personality, a can-do attitude and a problem-solving mind. It also helps to enjoy chatting with residents because you’re lucky enough to spend a lot of time with them. My favourite part of the day is catching up with residents as I work and seeing how they are doing. The day always goes so quickly when the home is busy and full of friendly faces.

One of my biggest career highlights has been joining Tranby Park. The job, the commute and the work-life balance are the best I have ever had. I feel proud when residents and colleagues show their appreciation for something I have helped with, no matter how big or small.

The most important part of my role is making sure everything is safe, functional and up to date so that everyone who lives and works in the home can relax and feel secure.

Outside of work I enjoy walking my dog Jessie, hiking, spending time with my family and showing off my gorgeous 11-month-old daughter.
