Summer fun for Chelmsford care home residents

Company news

Through the summer the residents of the Care UK home in Manor Road, have enjoyed activities as varied as a cream tea at the world famous Tiptree jam factory, a trip to Maldon with a walk on the pier and a special picnic and visit to Tropical Wings to see the exotic butterflies.

The season of summer fun culminated in the spectacular fete at which staff, residents and their families welcomed members of the public to the extensive grounds of the beautiful year-old home, which boasts facilities, including a cinema and hairdressing salon.

The fete, which raised £1,600 was a great success. Home manager Bernard Mawoyo said: “The residents always tell us what activities they are interested in and the fete was no different. They decided what stands to have and had great fun running them along with their relatives and staff.”

The home provides nursing care for residents with a wide range of needs.  Bernard said: ”It’s important to find entertainment and activities that are enjoyable at many levels so that all our residents can join in the fun.

“We believe that lives should be fulfilled whatever a person’s age or ability. We spend a great deal of time talking to residents about what interests them and then we find how we can incorporate that into something for everyone. For example, at Tiptree those who could, enjoyed the wonderful factory tour, while others were happy to join in with the delicious cream tea.”

Bernard added: “Everyone enjoyed the trip to Maldon. It was a perfect day and it brought back happy memories for many people. We were all tired by the sea air when the coach arrived back.”
