West London schools help Hammersmith care home celebrate Christmas

Home news

Schools and choirs from around West London will be helping to make it a very special and musical Christmas for residents at Care UK’s St Vincent’s House in Hammersmith.

On Tuesday, children from Fulham Boys Preparatory School visited the Queen Caroline Street home to sing carols for the residents whilst on Wednesday, regular visitors to the home - the Mount Carmel Baptist Choir – visited for their annual Christmas performance.

And on Thursday December 13, youngsters from St Paul’s Primary School, Worlidge Street, Hammersmith, will also visit the residents for a chat and carols.

The series of visits will be rounded off on December 18, with a performance by children from St Augustine Roman Catholic Primary School, in Disbrowe Road, Hammersmith.

Activities Coordinator Bridie Lockland said: “The residents love having children to visit. It makes them smile to hear them singing and they love chatting with them.

“The residents have been busy decorating the home ready for their visitors and they have made some beautiful snowflakes that are now covering the windows throughout the home.”

The home’s celebrations culminate on Friday December 21 with an old-fashioned London sing-along. Bridie said: “We are turning one of our lounges into a pub for the evening. We will be joined by residents’ friends and relatives for a buffet and a sing-along with an entertainer. Christmas is a special time as it unlocks many memories for older people and it helps us to create new and special memories for our residents and their loved ones.”
