New leadership team takes the helm at Haywards Heath care home

Home news

A new care home in Haywards Heath has appointed its senior team ahead of its opening later this year.

Home Manager, Debbie Wheeler, will lead the team at Care UK’s Martlet Manor, on Butlers Green Road, when it opens in October this year, having spent over 20 years working in the care sector.

In addition to a host of qualifications in social care, leadership and management training, Debbie was previously Home Manager for the nearby Mill View, another Care UK care home, so she is well-equipped to take on the day-to-day running of Martlet Manor, which will accommodate up to 72 residents.

Thanks to her past experiences, Debbie has a wide range of skills at her disposal and understands the importance of training. As such, she believes the key to providing the best possible care is to ensure team members feel supported and empowered in their roles.

Debbie said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as the home manager at Martlet Manor, and I look forward to leading a highly-skilled, caring team when we open the doors in October.

“Having a wide breadth of experience in this sector, I’m thoroughly looking forward to creating a positive, caring culture from scratch at a brand-new care home. When we open our doors later this year, my first task will be to get to know the residents and finding out what they enjoy, and how they would like their home to be run – I believe that’s the secret to enable them to live fulfilling lives. I can’t wait to start a new chapter here in Haywards Heath.”

Debbie will have the support of Suzi Hawes, who will take on the role of Customer Relations Manager at the home. Previously a member of the British Airways cabin crew, Suzi has a wealth of experience in customer service and delivering excellence, and will also benefit from her City and Guilds qualification, that she passed with flying colours prior to joining the care sector.

Speaking about her role, Suzi said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to be a part of a new team here in Haywards Heath. I enjoy building relationships and interacting with other people, and am excited by the challenges we face as a team when Martlet Manor begins to open its doors. Most of all, I am looking forward to meeting new families and residents and making them feel at home.”

Those keen to have a sneak peek of what life will be like at Martlet Manor can book an appointment to visit the marketing suite. To find out more, please call Suzi Hawes on 07580 592 927 or email suzi.hawes@careuk.com.

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new care home, which is set to open in October this year, will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
