Let the good vibes roll! Tyne & Wear care homes invite local community to start festival season in style

Home news

Festival season is in full swing in Tyne & Wear – with two summer events set to take the stage.

On Thursday 29th June, from 1pm-4pm, Care UK’s Grangewood, on Chester Road, is set to hit the right note as it opens its doors to local people for the brand-new Best Day Ever Festival.

Hadrian House, on Garden Street, will be inviting the local community to join its fun-filled American-themed festival on Friday 30th June, from 3pm-5pm.

The festival inspired events come as Grangewood and Hadrian House celebrate Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Grangewood’s Best Day Ever will see guests invited to an exciting pirate-themed festival, complete with family-friendly games, fire breathers and plenty of music – sure to get the party started.

At Hadrian House, the home will be welcoming magician, Steve Bell, who is sure to have a few tricks up his sleeve. There will also be a variety of food stalls offering traditional American treats, including burgers, hot dogs and candy floss.

Joleen Rayner, Home Manager at Grangewood, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to join our festival celebrations.

“Care Home Open Week offers the perfect opportunity to get together with loved ones, show what life in our homes is really like, and enjoy a celebration of music and culture. Many residents at our Tyne & Wear homes have fond memories of watching live music in their younger years, and we hope these events will encourage them to look back and relive these happy times.”

Jane Fox, Home Manager at Hadrian House, added: “We have many music-loving residents here in Tyne & Wear, and we’re really excited to ring in summer in style as we host our first ever festivals. We can’t wait to strike a chord with residents and the wider Tyne & Wear community!”
