The Potteries

Welcome to The Potteries

Our bright and friendly care home is in the suburb of Broadstone, just a few miles from the centre of the seaside town of Poole in Dorset. Our purpose-built home has an array of superb facilities to enjoy, including a coffee shop, cinema, hair and beauty salon – and even our very own pub, The Lockdown Arms!

Our team at The Potteries delivers a full range of care services for older people, from permanent residential, nursing and dementia care to short term respite care. In 2021 we were proud to be accredited with the Gold Standards Framework Care Homes Programme. This demonstrates our skill and commitment to delivering high quality, person-centred care to residents at the end of their life.

We’re one big family at The Potteries, and when your loved one joins us, we work with them and you to learn all about their life history, likes and dislikes. We then put together care and lifestyle plans that are tailored to their unique needs and interests which support them to live a fun and fulfilling life at The Potteries. We’re also here for you, providing emotional and practical support throughout your loved one’s stay with us.

What others have to say

Here are just some of the comments we’ve received from family, friends and residents at The Potteries care home.

Mum was in respite care at The Potteries for five weeks. Staff listened and responded to her initial needs and preferences. The Potteries is extremely COVID friendly. Staff are supportive of relatives as well as residents.  Despite COVID restrictions, the home has a very friendly supportive atmosphere.

Mum really enjoyed her time and is likely to return for respite care, or permanently in the future. Thank you to all the staff who made her stay so lovely, gave her a rest and enabled me to have a break. You are all caring, lovely people.

Relative of resident, November 2021

My sister and I have just returned from our first visit to see Mum. I just wanted to say how lovely her room is and how the staff have been really helpful. Mum seems really well considering her great age and even she said ‘I like this room’. Thank you for all your help in this, it’s a great weight off our minds seeing Mum settled.

Daughter of a resident, May 2021

To all the wonderful staff at The Potteries care home. Thank you! Mabel never missed an opportunity to tell us how fortunate she was to live in such pleasant and incredibly clean surroundings. Quite an achievement for a lady who could spot a tiny ant scuttling down in the grass! I know where I want to live if I should require a care home! Well done team!

Relative of a resident, May 2021

To all the staff in the Dolphin Suite. Thank you all so much for all the care and understanding you gave to my very dear friend John Wilson. You all do a wonderful job. Thank you also for allowing me to talk each day to John.

Friend of resident, April 2021

To all the staff at The Potteries, thank you so much for all the love and care you gave my Aunt. It meant a lot to us knowing how well you looked after her, particularly during this difficult year. Thank you.
